We believe that collaborative care between midwives and physicians yields the very best outcomes for pregnant women and their babies. Our full-scope midwifery service provides in-office and midwifery-managed prenatal care and deliveries. We deliver at McLaren Bay Region hospital.
When people think about certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), they often think about childbirth. CNMs do deliver babies and believe childbirth is a natural, empowering process for women.
HDI OB/Gyn and Midwifery Services has certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) that are advanced practice nurses with advanced education in women’s health care and midwifery. Their care focuses on health promotion, education and disease prevention.
CNMs seek to prevent problems and help women make informed decisions about their health care so they develop and maintain good health habits for a lifetime.
As with other health care professionals, CNMs must pass a national certification examination, are held to rigorous standards of practice set by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and the state in which they practice.
They also are required to take ongoing classes to maintain their certification.
Certified nurse-midwives work in many health care practice settings, including hospitals, private practices and clinics.
They manage their patients independently and collaborate with physicians as needed.
